ITC Bladerunner parts replacement

IMPORTANT
Replacing Bladerunner parts requires a small amount of mechanical and soldering skill. Please do not attempt it unless you are comfortable with both.

Main motor replacement
Note that one screw for each motor is hidden under the intermediate gear. To access this screw you need to either remove the mainshaft and gears or drill a small hole in the intermediate gear. Removing the mainshaft is not too hard.... you should be able to gently twist off the lower retaining collar and pull the mainshaft out.

After removing the geartrain, the motor screws and the motor itself may be easily removed. Before unsoldering the wires, note which terminal each wire attaches to. Since the two motors run in opposite directions, one motor is wired "backwards".

The main motor pinion simply pulls off the shaft. It helps to use some needle nose pliers to lever it off by applying force under the pinion and against the motor body. Be careful not to apply sideways force and bend the shaft. I have a very limited supply of pinions (not shown on the parts page) if you break one.

Tail motor replacement
Since there are several versions of tail motor and wiring attachment out there, I cannot be specific. The motor should simply pull out of the motor mount. Splice the wires red to red and blue to blue and you should be OK.

Gear replacement
See "Main Motor Replacement, above, for gear train removal instructions.

Tail rotor replacement
The tail rotor simply pulls off the motor shaft. Be gentle. It is a delicate little motor!

Electronics board replacement
Replacing the electronics board is a delicate job. Please get help if you are not completely comfortable with soldering small wires to small pads. Also take anti-static precautions such as grounding yourself to a nearby metallic object BEFORE you touch the board. Caution..... the electronic boards come WITHOUT wires. Make detailed notes of where each wire goes before removing it from the old board.
